About Us

Welcome to Howe Dell Day Care
We are a unique 56-place Day Care located within Howe Dell Primary School. Our Day Care first opened in 2007, when Howe Dell School moved into its purpose-built premises on our current site.

Howe Dell holds the distinction of being Hertfordshire’s first eco-school, thoughtfully designed with a range of innovative eco features. Our strong eco ethos promotes sustainable living and helps children develop an understanding of the importance of caring for both one another and the environment around them.

We offer three welcoming and well-resourced rooms for our Babies, Toddlers, and Pre-School children, each led by experienced and highly qualified practitioners. Our dedicated staff team is committed to providing the highest standards of care, alongside purposeful educational experiences that meet and extend each child’s individual needs and interests.

Our setting benefits from a fantastic outdoor learning area, where children have daily opportunities to play, explore, and grow through meaningful interactions with nature. We also have access to the school’s exceptional facilities, including the school hall, library, music room, outdoor classroom, Nurture Room, Kingfisher Island, and the much-loved Eco Bus.

Our Bespoke Curriculum
At Howe Dell Day Care, we implement a bespoke curriculum designed to promote a sequenced and coherent approach to children’s learning and development from three months to rising five years. Developed in collaboration with our leadership team, the curriculum ensures a clear progression of skills, knowledge, and understanding as children move through the Baby Room, Toddler Room, and Pre-School.

Our curriculum is fully aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and is underpinned by the principles of providing high-quality learning experiences that build upon what children know and can do. It enables practitioners to respond effectively to individual needs and interests, ensuring that every child makes sustained progress across all areas of learning and development.

Our weekly planning is carefully aligned with this bespoke curriculum. The leadership team and practitioners work collaboratively each week to plan and reflect, ensuring that activities and experiences consistently showcase the sequencing of learning and remain fully in line with our curriculum intent and implementation.
